Stuff I Didn't Have Room to Say

Cubbies and shelves, oh my

CubbiesHold Everything has announced an online-only sale, marking down bath storage products by either 20 percent (according to the subject line on the email) or by 15 percent (according to the text of the email). Either way, it's a savings.

Personally, I've had my eye on the Collins stackable cubes, which can be purchased in various configurations with wood doors,  glass doors or  shelves. At a depth of 14 inches, a cabinet of cubbies would fit unobstrusively along the wall in a certain bathroom. But what exactly would it take to tame our clutter -- the piles of magazines, books and hair products that litter virtually every square inch of this house -- and project a new, serene outlook on storage? I'm guessing we'd need about a million stackable cubes. And then, instead of a bouquet of flowers on top, you'd see  more piles of books and hairbrushes.

For shoppers with neater families, the sale lasts until Sunday (unless that's wrong too, and it actually ends on Monday instead, or Saturday, or whatever day they settle on).

World's Best Black Skirt

Isdaandco_1880_751623Why does this skirt from Isda and Co. fit so well? It could be the vertical panels of fabric, it could be the mid-weight jersey wool that hangs so beautifully, but who really cares? I took this skirt to Paris last month and wore it 15 times in nine days. I dressed it down with boots and a sweater. I dressed it up with pumps. I wore it with ballet flats. It's a perfectly classic, no-style style that I'll wear for years.   Marked down from $221 to $165.75 online at Isda, it would be a bargain. Unfortunately, there's only one left; it's a size 12. Be warned. The skirt runs  big (and Isda cuts its clothes so generously to begin with that  size 8 has a 31-inch waist). Sizes 8 and 10 also are  available for $196 at Melange4women.com.

But enough about him. Purses!

BotkiermainHere's the Botkier purse I've coveted for months and by the way will continue to lust for from afar because I spent all my money on other things like taking children to Paris (why).  But if you've budgeted more wisely than me, you can actually possess the Trigger Luxe Bag for $425 (marked down from $610 at Calypso). The leather is nice and squishy and it's easy to remove the fringe things if they embarrass you. Plus, this purse is the perfect size and shape and style to carry with basically everything you own (except the black chiffon dress, but how often do you wear it?).
